On 5 April Osaka City University held its entrance ceremony at the Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium. The university welcomed more than 2000 new students.
At the start of the ceremony a minute of silence was observed for the victims of the Tohoku earthquake.

The Mayor of Osaka, Mr. Hiramatsu, also attended the ceremony and congratulated the new students.
